Beschreibung
Research in digital and automation engineering fostering advances in digital design, automated construction methods and life-cycle maintenance of the infrastructure field with a special focus on civil engineering structures. Digitalisation in Civil Engineering and Construction is rapidly developing and the demand for exchange of knowledge is growing. This journal focuses on promoting research in the field of digital construction and operation and gathers valuable insight into digital methods and automation application projects as well as reports from the industry.
Moreover, it encourages research and world-wide practical applications of digital methods that support decarbonisation developments for materials, structural elements, site logistic and deliver integrated sustainability solutions, enable resilient places, and secure regenerative, resource efficient and waste-free infrastructure.
Aims & Scope
Civil Engineering Designis an international English-language, peer-reviewed, hybrid open access journal published by Ernst & Sohn for research papers as well as practice-oriented reports of all aspects of digitalisation. The journal supports the rapid dissemination of digital methods over the entire life cycle starting with design, tendering, contracting, construction, logistics, operation, maintenance, rehabilitation, and demolition, which should keep in mind reuse and recycling of materials and other components. It encourages research in digital and automation engineering of the infrastructure field with a special focus on civil engineering structures. Therefore, it promotes the use of innovative processes based on methods like BIM/TIM, AI, innovative IT supported design, construction automation, robotics for autonomous manufacturing, monitoring, big data management and overall management to support new contractual approaches.
Given the construction industry's large contribution to global CO2 emissions and the societal challenges to design a modern, sustainable infrastructure, it is additionally important to encourage research of digital methods in terms of life cycle analysis, circular economy or sustainable materials as well as construction, maintenance or rehabilitation of infrastructures.
