Steel Construction Ausgabe 03/15
Cover Story: The central cushion in an ETFE-roof construction covers the 1,300 m2 swimming pool of the new Center Parcs resort « Le Bois aux Daims » near the small village Morton in western France. The ETFE-façade allows spans of up to 4m in between the primary wooden beam structure. In combination with the low self-weight and the high light transmittance of the material the wide span results in a very transparent surface allowing visitors to feel themselves almost being outside. Each cushion is connected to an air distribution system, which runs concealed along the eaves. The regular pressure is adjusted to a low level of 250 Pa and will be automatically raised under high snow loads. The opening ceremony took place on 29 June 2015 (see p. 186). (©LEICHTonline.com)
