Ernst & Sohn's Young Talent Prize Awarded to 2012 Graduates
As in the past year, Ernst & Sohn has awarded the Young Talent Prize to this year's finest graduates in civil engineering in tight cooperation with universities and technical colleges.

Dr.-Ing. Markus Wetzel elected as new BVPI president
The members assembly of the Federal Association of Supervisory Structural Engineers (BVPI) elected Dr.-Ing. Markus Wetzel as their new president at the annual meeting in Dresden. He follows Dr.-Ing. Hans-Peter Andrä, who has been the president since 2005 and in this time has brought the profession of supervisory engineer to Europe.

Review from Chinese experts for Holger Svensson´s Cable-Stayed Bridges
Prof. Haifan Xiang and Dr. Yaojun Ge, both Tongji University in Shanghai, China, published a review on Holger Svensson´s book Cable-Stayed Bridges:
" [...] In conclusion, Prof. Svensson, with his 40 years productive and successful experiences, contributed to us the colorful development process of cable-stayed bridges, and annotated the quintessence of design and construction of modern cable-stayed bridges in his book. [...]"

Designed by Renzo Piano and inaugurated recently on July 5th, "The Shard" in London's borough of Southwark towers over its surroundings like no other building in the city or even Europe. At 309.6 meters this skyscraper has officially become Europe's tallest building and the UK's second-tallest free-standing structure.
