Dr.-Ing. Markus Wetzel elected as new BVPI president
The members assembly of the Federal Association of Supervisory Structural Engineers (BVPI) elected Dr.-Ing. Markus Wetzel as their new president at the annual meeting in Dresden. He follows Dr.-Ing. Hans-Peter Andrä, who has been the president since 2005 and in this time has brought the profession of supervisory engineer to Europe.
Markus Wetzel is a partner of the consultant Wetzel & von Seht with offices in Hamburg and Berlin, has worked in construction design for many years and has been a supervisory engineer for structural design for about 10 years.
About 650 independent supervisory engineers and specialist engineers for structural stability and fire protection belong to the Bundesvereinigung der Prüfingenieure. Each is personally accredited by the senior building supervision authority of a federal state. Their duties include the checking of construction documents and supervision on site as part of the building approval process. The aim of supervisory engineers is to strike a balance between their activities as consultant engineers and as supervisory engineers.
