Reconstruction of large fires using numerical simulation – The De Punt boathouse fire

On May 9, 2008 a huge fire broke out in a boathouse in the Dutch town of De Punt, leading to three firefighters losing their lives. The fire spread so quickly after the fire department's arrival, that the firefighters were not able to retreat from the ground-level building in time.
