Paris in 1805: for political reaons, the Simplon pass is publicized widely using banners and newspaper articles. The glory of Napoleon Bonaparte as "builder of the highway" had to be commended properly - and indeed, the Simplon Pass quickly became an important attraction for travellers in Europe.

On 25 August 2010 the special commission on construction technology of the construction secretaries' conference informed in writing of the planned introduction of the Eurocodes. From 1 July 2012 on the first package consisting of Eurocodes 0 through 5, 7 and 9, shall officially come into effect.

Prof. Dr.-Ing. Georg Heerten, general manager of NAUE GmbH & Co. KG (in Espelkamp-Fiestel, Germany) is the new chairman of the board of the German Geotechnical Society (DGGT). He was elected at the last DGGT general meeting held on 4 November 2010 in Munich to succeed long-time chairman Prof. Dr.-Ing. E.h. Manfred Nußbaumer M.Sc., Munich.
Anhalter Bahnhof, a railway station inaugurated in 1880 by Emperor William I
The first Anhalter Bahnhof began receiving railway trains on 1 July 1841. Because of the ever increasing amount of rail traffic, the building quickly became insufficient and despite several extensions was demolished to make way for the new station that is still known today.
