Harald Unterweger appointed as professor

As of July 2011, Dipl.-Ing. Dr. techn. Harald Unterweger was appointed Professor of Steel Construction at the Technical University of Graz.

Born into a family of building draftsmen, he attended the Technical High School at Villach with a concentration in civil engineering and obtained his high-school diploma in 1983 with honors. Then followed his military service with the 26th Jäger Batallion in Spittal/Drau. During the 1984 fall semester he began studying civil engineering at the Technical University of Graz and finished his studies in the minimum amount of time (an rare exception at the time) with honors in summer of 1989. In the following fall he began his work as a research assistant in steel construction at the Technical University of Graz at the institute which was chaired by the author. It was followed by a very intensive cooperation in building up and re-organising the curriculum where Mr. Unterweger was especially interested in the subject "Modelling and Design".
