Abstract:	Mit der Einführung des Spannbetons erfolgte in den fünfziger Jahren eine rasche Entwicklung des Massivbrückenbaus, an der Leonhardt großen Anteil hatte. Er entwickelte Spannverfahren, entwarf beispielhafte Brücken und engagierte sich für ihre gute Gestaltung. Durch seine Bücher, Forschung und Lehre förderte er die weltweite Verbreitung der Spannbetonbrücken.
