Abstract: | Urban road tunnels have only been built in four towns in the Czech Republic. Their purpose is mostly environmental, with construction being enforced by ever growing requirements for environmental protection. Currently there are twelve urban road tunnels operating in the Czech Republic: six in Prague, four in Brno and single tunnels in Liberec and Jihlava. The Blanka complex of tunnels in Prague is currently under construction and will become the longest tunnel in the Czech Republic in 2014. |
