Abstract: | The new transport corridor TRACECA (Transport Corridor Europe-Caucasus-Asia) connects Azerbaijan with Black sea ports and allows an increase in the freight volume and passenger traffic in the future. Within this corridor the Georgian Government decided to build a bypass around Tbilisi as a solution for the trend of increasing traffic. The bypass railway project of Tbilisi includes four single-tube tunnels in a suburban area of Tbilisi with small overburden which pass through poor and complex rock mass conditions. The project is still ongoing and will be finished in 2013. |
