Abstract:

Rolling out of architectural design intent - Approximation of freeform surfaces by developable strips.
For a number of years the eye catcher of contemporary architecture has been so called Freeform-Architecture. To design such in a convincing manner, it takes far more than the mere shape - only when the composition of the whole and the parts takes place in a construction aware manner, the project will be successful. Ideally innovative technology can almost remove the geometric constraints when forming materials by appropriate processes.
