Ponts habités - a part of European bridge-building culture. Apart from a few exceptions listed as national monuments, habitable bridges - bridges incorporating houses and shops - have largely disappeared from our present cityscapes. This article aims to recall past and present structures and the human fates and encounters associated with them as a part of European bridge-building culture. |
