Abstract:     
 
In an early planning phase for the Granitztal tunnel chain, which forms part of the Koralm railway running between Graz and Klagenfurt, Austria, the continuous tunnelling method has been taken into consideration, at least in some sections, in addition to sequential or conventional tunnelling. This paper deals with the investigations that eventually led to the decision to consider both tunnelling methods in the detailed tender design for one section of the tunnel chain, and to let competition decide which tunnelling method to choose.
Für die Tunnelkette Granitztal als Bestandteil der Koralmbahn zwischen Graz und Klagenfurt wurden bereits in einer frühen Planungsphase Überlegungen angestellt, neben der zyklischen Vortriebsmethode auch einen kontinuierlichen Vortrieb - zumindest in Teilbereichen - in Erwägung zu ziehen. Der vorliegende Beitrag befasst sich mit den Untersuchungen, die schließlich zur Entscheidung geführt haben, im Detailprojekt für einen Abschnitt der Tunnelkette beide Vortriebsmethoden durchzuplanen und hier die Entscheidung für die Vortriebsmethode dem Wettbewerb zu überlassen.
