Abstract:	Der etwa 100 Jahre alte zweigleisige aber nur eingleisig betriebene Kappelesbergtunnel, der von dünnen Tonzwischenlagen durchzogenes Anhydritgebirge durchfährt, musste in den Jahren 1982/83 instandgesetzt und erneuert werden. Der Tunnel war durch den Schwell- und Quelldruck des Gebirges sowie durch Witterungseinflüsse und Bergwasser stark geschädigt.
