Abstract:

Pressure loss calculation with particular reference to simulation results.
The pressure loss coefficient describes the flow resistance of technical components ζ. Standard procedures exist for the experimental determination of the pressure drop. When determining this from simulation data however, the devil is in the detail. This paper explains the basic principles for calculating pressure loss. It examines the particular problems involved in calculating pressure loss from simulation results.
