Der weltgrößte Kran, ein über 30 Jahre alter Werftportal-Kran aus Malmö, Schweden, wurde verkauft, im Jahr 2002 dort zerlegt, demontiert und per Schiff in die größte Werft der Welt nach Ulsan in Süd-Korea gebracht. Der Beitrag berichtet über den Aufbau in der Werft Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI), wo der Kran neu zusammenschweißt wurde und nun nach dreijähriger Planungszeit und einjähriger Bauzeit für eine neuartige Slip-Anlage für Schiffe in einem Offshore Yard mit geänderter Aufgabenstellung in Betrieb genommen wurde.

A 30 year-old Goliath Crane for ship-building was sold to Werft Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI), along with two slewing cranes, by a Swedish company. It was knocked down and dismantled at Malmö, Sweden and transported by ship to Ulsan, South Korea, in order to be re-erected and re-used for a newly developed “Ground-Shipbuilding-System” in the place of real estate of an offshore yard.
